If you are engaged in Christmas Bird Counts or Breeding Bird Counts, the delineation of your count circle is crucial, yet often ambiguous. Count Circle serves as a comprehensive resource, encompassing the complete National Audubon database of Christmas Bird Counts (CBCs). This includes 2,883 distinct count circles across 93 various regions, spanning Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, and Antarctica, with data updated as of December 2018.

The application features an interactive map that allows users to lookup and visualize any count circle, providing clarity on the exact areas encompassed within each circle. Additionally, Count Circle displays your current location, enabling you to ascertain whether you fall within a specific count circle while conducting your observations.

Count Circle also functions as a tool for exploration, allowing users to view different circles and identify potential participation opportunities. With a single click, you can filter to display all circles within your state.

In instances where discrepancies in the database are suspected, Count Circle facilitates the refinement of circle centers and allows users to update listings. If desired, users can directly report these revisions to the National Audubon Society for their review.

Furthermore, users have the capability to create and save personalized circles. This feature, in conjunction with the ability to visualize multiple existing circles, offers an effective means to position new circles without overlapping pre-established ones. You also have the option to specify the radius in miles or kilometers, accommodating variations from the standard 7.5-mile radius typically used for CBCs—an advantageous feature for those participating in "patch challenges."

It is important to note that some reviewers have pointed out inconsistencies in count circle locations. Any inaccuracies can be attributed to the original National Audubon database from which the app draws its data. The application includes a functionality for reporting such discrepancies directly to Audubon to facilitate future corrections.
